Following a scathing grand jury report on clergy sex abuse in the Catholic Church, seven of Pennsylvania’s Catholic dioceses have announced victims’ compensation funds specifically for those whose claims are too old to be taken to court due to previously existing statutes of limitations. Some of these claims originate as far back as the 1940s. Funds have been established by the Diocese of Philadelphia, Harrisburg, Scranton, Allentown, Greensburg, Erie, and Pittsburgh. Each of the Dioceses claims process has its own deadline.
Because of the sensitivity of the abuse of all victims and their families, names and information will be kept in the strictest confidence.
The Fund will not use money set aside for church activities or the help the needy. It will not dip into funds for charities, seminaries, donor-designated gifts or donations to parishes, ministries or schools. The money to pay victims will come from the sale of properties and insurance compensation.
Our experience team will register and help you maximize the amount of compensation you are owed.
